Meet Robert, our April Spotlight Athlete! Robert noticed the gym while hanging out at the brewery next door and decided to walk over and see what it was all about. Before joining, his regular routine was to go to work, head home, maybe have a beer and eat something that, as he says, “I really shouldn’t… and it began to show.”
After completing Foundations classes in January where he learned how to safely complete our fundamental lifts and movements, Robert became a regular 4:30 AM Athlete. Since making it a part of his regular schedule, Robert’s noticed an overall increase in his daily functioning. “I move easier than I did before and have noticed an improvement in my cardio.” He credits his fellow Early Morning Athletes for helping maintain his motivation, noting Susie and Abby for pushing his overall pace, Dan for encouraging him to go heavier and Caleb for challenging him to keep up on the runs. “Everyone is always cheering me on!”
While Robert’s favorite lifts include pretty much anything pressing, bench press, overhead press, he is particularly proud of recently setting a Deadlift Personal Record noting, “my legs are getting stronger than they’ve been in years.” When asked what he’d tell people considering joining CFRS, Robert says, “jump in and believe in yourself, trust the process and you’ll be hooked, like me.”
